Ruva Chigwedere, from New Jersey by way of Zimbabwe, is a sophomore at the college pursuing a joint concentration in Theater, Dance, and Media and History and Literature. Ruva is excited to be making her opera debut as Dorothée in Harvard College Opera's Cendrillon! On campus, Ruva sings as a soprano in the Kuumba Singers of Harvard College and currently serves as the secretary of Black Community and Student Theater. Recent campus credits include Jogging (Medea), The Emperor's New Clothes (Tailor 2), and s.i.n.s.o.f.u.s. (ensemble). This past summer, Ruva studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, where she played Kate in Taming of the Shrew as well as Bosola and The Duchess in extensive scene studies of the Duchess of Malfi. Ruva would like to thank Gary Peacock for encouraging her to sing, HCO for being so welcoming, and her family for all of their support.
