Laura Coe

Laura Coe is a dancer/choreographer from Los Angeles, California and Chatham, New York and a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation. Laura made her opera debut in last year’s production of Cendrillon as a princess/spirit. She is delighted to be back for a second season as resident choreographer with HCO. 

Laura received her formative training with Berkshire Pulse Performing Arts Program, where she was a founding member of the Young Choreographer’s Initiative, a program which seeks to empower young choreographers to share their voice and to use dance to fuel social activism. 

She has performed at Jacob’s Pillow in José Limón’s “A Choreographic Offering," Ze’eva Cohen’s “Sharing of the Water,” and Compañía Sharon Friedman’s "Free Fall." She has performed Lamentation by Martha Graham, Gym Event with the Cunningham Trust, and Storytime by Bill T. Jones as part of Seminal Voices with Harvard Dance Project. She has created and performed original choreography for Shakespeare & Co. Fall Festival of Shakespeare productions of The Tempest (choreographer/dancer/Iris), Henry IV (fight choreographer), Midsummer Nights Dream (Egeus), for WordXWord at The Mount, for violinist Ilana Zaks, and in partnership with Leighann Kowalsky for Choreography on the Edge. 

Outside of HCO, Laura is the secretary of Native Americans at Harvard College (NAHC), plays guitar, loves exploring Harvard and Boston with friends, and is a member for of Harvard Ballet Company, Harvard Breakers, HRMDC, and Expressions Dance Company. A sophomore in Leverett House concentrating in Romance Languages and Literatures/Theater Dance and Media, she is interested in the intersection of culture and the arts.
