Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), marks Harvard College Opera’s triumphant return to the Agassiz Mainstage after the 2020-2021 virtual season. The story of the wily barber of Seville and his action-packed wedding day, this riotous and raunchy opera follows Figaro and his bride-to-be Susanna as they strive to outwit the lascivious Count Almaviva (and sometimes each other), enlisting the Count's long-suffering wife and a randy page along the way. As their capers play out alongside the threat of military conscription, hilariously oblique legal battles, and a healthy dose of disguise, the happy couple's celebration dissolves into four acts of chaos that have kept audiences on the edges of their seats for two and a half centuries.
Sung in Italian with English supertitles. All performances are family friendly. Performance times, livestream and ticketing links, and COVID-19 safety policies, as well as cast, staff, and orchestra credits, will be updated regularly on the show page linked above.
