Benjamin Rossen

A 2020 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts and Young Steinway Artist, native New Yorker Benjamin T. Rossen is a multifaceted musician; he is a pianist, composer, and French hornist. Currently, Benjamin is a sophomore in the Harvard University / New England Conservatory (NEC) A.B./M.M. Dual Degree Program studying Economics and Piano Performance. He studies piano at NEC with Professors Alessio Bax and Dang Thai Son. In 2022, Benjamin acted as répétiteur in the Harvard College Opera's production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro and the Lowell House Opera's production of Wenzelberg's NIGHTTOWN.

Benjamin was invited to perform in the Office for the Arts at Harvard’s “Learning From Performers” series featuring Matthew Aucoin and Erin Morley. He has also written film scores through the Harvard Art, Film, and Visual Media Department, and is a Course Assistant in the Harvard Economics Department.

In February 2022, he was invited to perform with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) and The Society of the Four Arts in the CMS Chamber Music Beginnings Program. And in January 2020, he was featured as a CMS Artist in the “Meet the Music!” concert series. He has also been invited as guest performer in the Cliburn Kids educational series and Music@Menlo Chamber Music Festival. Further, he was named a 2018 Finalist-Winner at the National YoungArts Foundation, a Finalist for the NPR “From the Top” program, and a quarterfinalist at the 2019 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition & Festival. After making his recital debut at age nine and concerto debut at Carnegie Hall at age 10, he went on to win prizes at multiple international competitions. These include CMS, the George Gershwin International Music Competition, the Kaufman International Youth Piano Competition, the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), the New York Piano Festival & Competition, and Steinway & Sons.

Benjamin has performed on three continents and has participated in numerous international festivals. An avid chamber musician, he attended the Music@Menlo Chamber Music Festival for the past five summers, as well as Festival MusicAlps. A burgeoning composer, he is a National Winner of the MTNA Composition Competition. His work has been premiered through the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the New York State School Music Association Winter Conference.
