Benjamin Kasiel Pixley

Benjamin Kasiel Pixley is a lyric baritone and music director from Westford, Massachusetts, studying Neurobiology and Classics at Harvard. He has performed extensively in opera, musical theater, and choral music and currently sings with the Harvard Glee Club. In his first season at Harvard, Ben starred as the Pirate King in the Harvard-Radcliffe Gilbert & Sullivan Players’ production of "The Pirates of Penzance", music directed the Freshman Musical, and sang the role of Werner von Haeften in the regional premiere of the choral-theater work "Bonhoeffer". Before Harvard, Ben was selected for the NAfME All-National Honor Choir, performed in the Massachusetts All-State Choir for four consecutive years, placed third nationally at the Classical Singer National Vocal Competition, and attended the Schmidt Vocal Institute. For the past three years, he has trained with renowned opera director Phil Lauriat.

Ben is also an experienced music director and educator, having worked with more than 600 young performers through school and community theater programs. He has music directed 15 musicals with theater companies across Massachusetts teaches private voice lessons, and assistant directed two operas during Opera51’s 2023–2024 season. Ben maintains a private voice studio, working with young singers throughout the Boston area.

Beyond the stage, Ben studies neurobiology with interests in pediatric neuroscience and neurologic injury and recovery. He conducts research at Boston Children’s Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, where his work has focused on pediatric brain injury, rehabilitation, and physiologic markers of recovery. His research on recovery following severe pediatric neurologic injury was selected for presentation at the 2026 AAPM&R Annual Assembly.

Ben hopes ultimately to become a pediatrician while continuing to make music, theater, and arts education central parts of his life.
